Noble metals become scarce

In an interview Dr. Frank Heinricht, chairman of the Heraeus-executive board, argues for the recycling of noble metals. In its latest edition (21-22/2011) the magazine CHEManager interviewed Heinricht concerning the subject of noble metals as the resource of the future. Against the background of metals of the platinum group (amongst others rhodium and ruthenium, which are also used for chiral catalysts) becoming a scarce resource, he is strongly in favour of a preservation of resources. An important aspect in this connection is an optimised recycling. Therefore in Heinricht´s opinion “recycling is essentially important”.
